Moon Shadow Rituals: New Moon Ritual
When the moon is in the new moon phase, the moon looks dark, almost black. This happens because the “Moon's orbit around Earth moves it between Earth and the Sun. From Earth, the Moon's surface looks dark because the illuminated side is facing away from Earth.”
There are different beliefs about the new moon or dark moon. For Moon Shadow Rituals, the new moon represent a time of planting seeds, intentions, and ideas that you want to manifest over the next 28 days until the full moon. Essentially, it represents a blank slate.
Women whose menstrual cycles are synced with moon will experience their menstrual cycle starting during the new moon. The new moon symbolizes releasing, cleansing, and letting go. Even as we let things go, we are also developing the fertile ground for manifestation. Like tending a garden, we take out the weeds, till the ground, and plant our seeds deep in the earth. Later, the seeds will sprout and eventually bloom.

New Moon Ceremony: Manifesting Newness in Your Life
Place the pot, dirt, crystal, and twine in front of you.
Light a candle and invoke the four directions.
Call forth any guides or deities you work with. Face the East direction.
Pick up the crystal and ask your guides to clear any energies stored in the crystal.
Close your eyes, breath deeply into your belly for three breaths.
Continue to allow your breath to come in and out of your body. Allow your body to relax with each exhale. As the body relaxes and the mind becomes silent, allow your heart and your Truest Self to come forward. Call upon the manifesting energies of the direction of the East, the direction of new beginnings.
With an open heart, pick up your crystal.
Holding your crystal, set your intentions. Take a few moments to think of your intentions, what you want to manifest. Feel into those energies of new beginnings. Allow your heart to be open. When you are ready, take the fabric swatch and twine and wrap up your crystal.
Next bury it in the bowl or pot.
Ask your guides how long the crystal needs to be buried; this is usually the amount of time needed for the energies to be manifested into the physical.
As you close your ritual, take a moment to thank the guides, deities, and ancestors for supporting your desires to manifest newness in your life.
Slowly call yourself back into the physical space. Begin to feel your body and your physical presence. Slowly open your eyes.
Close the ceremony by thanking all of the guides, deities, ancestors, and allies who supported you.
